Summit Loses to West Essex But Wins Support

Summit, NJ.  September 15th was a great day for Summit Football.  Fans, friends, teammates and hilltopper legends showed up to honor Johnny Mallory, the former football standout as his number was retired during halftime of the teams home opener against West Essex.  For those who attended the game and know the history of Summit Football it wasn’t so much the outcome of the game that mattered, but the memories of past championships that filled the air on a gorgeous September day. The team dressed like champions as they wore the traditional maroon and gold uniforms associated with the glory years of late coach Howie Anderson.  The Summit Football Allumni Association, Boosters,  School Administrators, and local community have shown tremendous interest in helping new head coach John Liberato resurrect the football program to the high standards it once held.  With continued support it will only be a matter of time before the program rises to the level it once was. Summit’s next home game is Saturday, September 29th against local rival Chatham.  Come out and support the team.
