Summit to Honor John Mallory at Sept 15th Home Opener
John Mallory, former Summit High School and athletic standout will be honored with a special halftime ceremony during Summit’s home opener against West Essex. John excelled in sports for the Hilltoppers during the 1961-63 seasons and was named All-State for football, basketball, and track. He went on to West Virginia University and starred as a punt returner and defensive back for the Mountaineers Football Team where he was named the teams MVP in 1967. John was then drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles and later played for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League and the Houston Texans of the World Football League where he retired in 1974. Game time is set for 1:30pm.
